Help Us Build the Future: Seeking Donors for the Maia Academy ExpansionTo continue our mission of bringing quality education to underserved communities, the Maïa Baudelaire Foundation is embarking on an ambitious project: expanding Maia Academy to support students up to grade 12. This extension is critical to providing access to full secondary education in a region that has been heavily impacted by socio-economic challenges. By increasing our capacity, we will be able to nurture the academic and personal growth of evenmore children in Khokana.
With construction slated to begin in December 2024, we are actively seeking donors who share our commitment to empowering young minds through education. This expansion will help ensure that each child has the opportunity to thrive academically and prepare for a promising future. Your support is essential in bringing this vision to life and creating lasting change in the lives of these students and their families.
Our Initiatives in Nepal:
- Food Distribution in Khokana: Since the start of the pandemic, the Foundation has supported nearly 300 families in the Kathmandu Valley. In collaboration with our local partner, Sahayogi Nepal, we have organized food distributions targeting women, children, the elderly, and migrants in the village of Khokana. These efforts have helped improve living conditions for countless individuals in need.
- Education at Maia Academy: In January 2021, the Foundation opened the Maia Academy, a school that provides children in Khokana with access to education. Construction of the school's facilities began in June 2021 and was completed within the year. Today, nearly 450 children attend the Maia Academy, receiving quality education and opportunities for a brighter future.
- Healthcare Access through the Village Clinic: In April 2022, we installed a clinic in Khokana, offering residents access to healthcare services and regular check-ups. This clinic has become a vital resource for the local community, ensuring that basic healthcare is within reach for everyone.
- Cultural Empowerment through Music Residencies: Since September 2022, we have hosted musical residencies that aim to promote Nepali cultural emancipation both locally and internationally. These programs offer artists a platform to create, collaborate, and share their work, enriching the local cultural landscape and building connections with the global artistic community.
