Fondation Maïa Baudelaire
On 23 October 2022, Benoist Grossmann and Louis Trincano, successfully completed the challenge of swimming the 16 km Gibraltar Strait from Tarifa (Spain) to Tangier (Morocco) in an effort to raise funds for Fondation Maia Baudelaire (hosted by La Fondation de France) in order to finance a project that will deliver drinking water to the children studying at Maia Academy in the Kathmandu Valley, Nepal.
Since inception in 2020, Maia Academy is providing an education to 500 children aged from 3 to 13 living in the Kathmandu Valley. Pupils of the Academy are children of ‘daily wagers’ who cannot afford an education for their children. Through its Health Clinic, Fondation Maia Baudelaire noticed that many inhabitants of the Kathmandu Valley suffered from diseases caused by drinking water from the well which on top of being unsuitable for consumption, is expensive costing a significant proportion of a typical daily wage. Bringing drinking water to the Academy would make a huge impact on the children and the broader community of over 1,000 families living in the Kathmandu Valley. Fondation Maia Baudelaire has made contact with local authorities and infrastructure companies in order to build a pipeline that will bring drinking water to a water tank in the Academy. In order to fund this project, Fondation Maia Baudelaire is raising €15,000: charitable contributions can be made through the dedicated webpage hosted by La Fondation de France and are deductible for tax payers in several jurisdictions.
Fondation Maia Baudelaire and Maia Academy are grateful for your kind support which will really help make an impact on the lives of many children and communities in the Kathmandu Valley.
